What is GCAT?
Can Vancouver be the Greenest City in the World? The current city council thinks so, but they want our help! Gregor Robertson has formed the Greenest City Action Team to meet this objective. This team is made up of advisors who want to make Vancouver a world leader in civic sustainability. The objective of the Greenest City Action Team, GCAT, is to provide a comprehensive 10-year action plan for addressing Vancouver’s environmental challenges that recommends targets, timelines, and actions that should be taken in the next three-year period.
This event is in collaboration with the City: the tables at which you will be seated are arranged around GCAT’s priority issues for tackling climate change: improving the transportation system, reducing pollution and waste, promoting local food, conserving water, supporting neighbourhood sustainability initiatives, stimulating the development of a green economy and protecting nature and green space. All of you will be coming up with an audacious vision for each topic. These will be compiled into a report that will be submitted to the city as a recommendation for the GCAT action plan.

Bravo Vancouver and UGSID Students! that’s exciting!
