We are collaborating with the Greenest City Action Team (GCAT) to provide audacious visions for what Vancouver could look like in 2020. Whatever ideas are generated during the day and night will be given to the GCAT as a report for them to use.
The day event is registration only. There will be 7 tables based on specific topics that the GCAT has mandated as priority issues:
- improving the transportation system;
- reducing pollution and waste;
- promoting local food;
- conserving water;
- supporting neighbourhood sustainability initiatives;
- stimulating the development of green jobs and the green economy; and
- protecting nature and green space.
When you arrive, you will be provided with your name tag and then you can register for one of these tables (see agenda below). During the first half hour you can relax, grab a coffee, juice and muffin and browse some of the artwork that will be on display.
Dialogues:
There will be two sessions of dialogues lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes each. You sign up for the first session, and then you may choose to go to any other table for the second session.
Each session will be posed 2 questions:
1. It’s 2020. What does your table topic (e.g. transportation) look like?
2. What happened to get us there?
Each table will have two facilitators (us, the students). One will record the entire session so that the ideas can be captured and put into a report for the GCAT. We encourage everyone to be bold, creative and envision new possibilities as we move into the future - be AUDACIOUS!
Live Art
We will have students from Emily Carr University at each table doing a live portrait of each session. We also have Vejko Sager doing a larger art piece live of the entire day event. These will be presented at the night event.
Drinks
Juice, coffee and confectionery goods will be free during the day event. At 5pm, we will open the bar and bring out some small food dishes. Food is free, but all alcohol (beer, wine) will cost cash at the bar. Please bring cash if you are planning on having some drinks :).
